Duplex Printing in iMac Word on a Canon Printer

Duplex printing, or printing on both sides of a sheet of paper, is a great way to save paper. You have two options for duplex printing on a Canon printer from Microsoft Word on your iMac: manual duplex or automatic duplex printing

Manual

·         To duplex print manually, you print the odd numbered pages of your documents first, flip the printed sheets over, then print the even numbered pages. Microsoft Word makes this process easy. The Microsoft Word menu in the Copies & Pages drop-down menu in the Print dialog box allows you to select whether to print all odd or all even pages.
·         The automatic duplex printing option in supported Cannon printers lets you print double-sided documents without printing one side and then turning over the pages to print the other side. If your Canon printer supports automatic duplex printing there will be a Duplex Printing & Margin option in the print dialog box.
·
·         Duplex printing is good for the environment since it reduces by half the amount of paper required to print your business documents. From a business perspective, duplex printing can cut your expenses by reducing the amount of paper you need to purchase. By producing smaller, lighter documents, you can also lower storage and postage costs

Canon Pixma MP800: Troubleshooting Guide

Canon designed the PIXMA MP800 as an all-in-one printer, copier and scanner. It appeals to the home user who needs these office services but is limited for desk space. Even the best Canon printer can stop working. Troubleshoot your PIXMA MP800 to help find and fix common underlying problems that may affect the printer's performance.

Make sure the MP800 is plugged into a reliable power source--for the best results, plug it directly into an outlet instead of using an extension cable--and powered on if its front display panel is dark.
Check the front and back paper feeder slots if the MP800 makes strange noises or stops printing halfway through a printing job. The device may be clogged. Remove any pieces of paper that may be stuck.

Review the front LCD display screen for an error. The error message typically describes what's wrong and how to fix it.
Adjust the MP800's print head if your printer results look crooked or off-balance. Press the "On/Off" button to turn off the device, then turn it back on. Insert two A4-sized (letter size) sheets of plain paper into the MP800's top feeder slot. Press "Maintenance" on the MP800's display screen and use the arrow keys to scroll down to "Manual Head Align." Push "OK" and follow the on-screen prompts to complete the alignment process.
Clean the MP800's scanner bed if the LCD screen displays an error saying, "Cannot Obtain Clean Scan" or if your scanning results look streaked, splotched or obscured by debris. Canon recommends wiping the glass with a clean, lint-free cloth. Solid debris deposits can be removed with water. Don't use glass cleaners, as this may damage the MP800.
Dial the Canon printer support line at 8555172433 if you still can't get your PIXMA MP800 printer to work correctly.

How to Troubleshoot Scanning on a Canon MX870

How to Troubleshoot Scanning on a Canon MX870

The Canon PIXMA MX870 is an all-in-one inkjet printer capable of printing, sending and receiving faxes, and scanning documents. Somewhere along the line during ownership, you may run into problems while scanning. Most of these problems can be solved by either altering scan settings or by proper maintenance of the scanner. By tweaking the appropriate settings, you can get your built-in scanner up and running again

·  Check the printer. Make sure that the power cord is plugged in and that the printer is turned on. Make sure one end of the USB cable is firmly connected to the printer, and the other end is inserted into a working USB port on your computer.
·  2
Check the document you are attempting to scan. If you do not have a quality document to begin with, you can't expect much from the final product. Above all, make sure that the document you are attempting to scan isn't too faded. Light markings, such as pencil, can be difficult to scan properly.

·  3
Clean the glass of the scanner, along with the plastic plate above the scanner glass. Turn off and unplug your printer before cleaning, and then wipe down the scanner with a slightly damp, lint-free glass cleaning cloth. Make sure that the cleaned areas are completely dry before turning the printer back on.
·  4
Increase the resolution on the scanner. You can access the resolution settings in the "Scanning Resolution" dialog box, which can be found under the "Scan Settings" header. If your scanning resolution is low, your image may come out looking blocky and may appear out-of-focus.
·  5
Open the ScanGear tool on your computer. Click the "Preferences" button in the top-right corner of the window. Click the "Color Settings" tab. Normally, you should set the color settings to "Recommended." However, if the colors in your document are not scanning properly, try switching to the "Color Matching" setting.
·  6
Open the ScanGear tool on your computer. Open the "Advanced Mode" tab. From here, you can make more detailed changes to how your document is scanned. For example, if you are having a problem with dust and scratches appearing in your scanned document, alter the "Reduce Dust and Scratches" setting. Or, if stripes are appearing across your document, turn on Descreening.
